videos from photos

• shortcuts won't pass a video from photos straight to an app's action. it asks "which video?" again
• put shortcuts' own Encode Media step in between
• leave its size on Passthrough, the default. it doesn't re-encode

build one

1. a photos step: Get Latest Videos set to 1, Select Photos, or Find Photos with Media Type set to Video and Limit 1

   

2. Encode Media, size on Passthrough

   

3. any video for ants action, then tap its video and pick Encoded Media, in case it wasn't wired up automatically ... like if you forgot Encode Media and added it later on

   

   

4. Quick Look or Save to Photo Album

files and the share sheet

• files: Select File as the first step
• share sheet: turn on Show in Share Sheet in the shortcut's settings, then share from photos, with the action's video set to Shortcut Input

  

• neither needs Encode Media

an automation (for some reason?)

chaining

• you can string all the video for ants actions together but note that they run serially so you probably want to reach for micro manage instead of making a giant rube goldberg device. but if it sounds fun then knock yourself out
